- What is the CareCheck Registry?
- The CareCheck Registry contains names of individuals that have:
- No relevant abuse and neglect records with the North Dakota Department of Human Services
- No criminal history with the North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation and the Federal Bureau of Investigation
- Placement in the CareCheck Registry is voluntary. The CareCheck Registry will be updated on an ongoing basis concerning child abuse.

- By calling CareCheck the general public will be able to find out if their provider(s) have been placed on CareCheck, and
- The CareCheck Registry gives parents one more tools to use when it comes time to choose a child care provider for their child/children
- How CareCheck Benefits Providers
- When you are interviewed by parents as a care giver for their child/children, you answer questions and supply references. By being listed on the CareCheck Registry, you offer added reassurance to parents that you have not been convicted of a crime against children or found to have abused or neglected a child.

- In 1991, during the fifty-second Legislative Assembly, Carecheck legislation was introduced, passed and became a part of the Early Childhood Services law 50-11.1.
