Regional Aging Services: Northeast Human Service Center
The Regional Aging Services Program Administrator at Northeast Human Service Center is responsible for the development of, access to, and monitoring of services for older persons in the four-county region.
Services include the following:
- Program supervision and monitoring of grants and contracts in the Grand Forks IV Region, including Pembina, Walsh, Grand Forks and Nelson counties, that are funded under the Older Americans Act, Title III
- Assisting elders and organizations in organizing needed services within
their communities Services include, but are not limited to:
- Vulnerable adult services
- Caregiver support
- Health screening, Pembina and Grand Forks Counties only
- Senior meals (congregate and home-delivered)
- Providing education, training, and leadership in advocating self-determination, health, and security for people who are elderly and/or disabled
- Supervising Family
Caregiver Support Services, which are supportive services for:
- Caregivers of people age 60 and older
- Grandparents relative caregivers who are older than age 60 and who provide care for children younger than 18
- The Regional Ombudsman Representative for Region's III and IV manages the Long-term Care Ombudsman Program, receiving and investigating complaints by residents of long-term care facilities concerning care they receive. The Ombudsman Representative can be reached at (888) 607-8610.
Foster Grandparent Program provides individual attention to children to help develop their skills, confidence and strength to succeed in life. Foster Grandparents help children learn to read, care for children with disabilities and offer counseling to those who need it. This program provides services to eastern North Dakota.
Foster Grandparents:
- Are over 60 years of age
- Can volunteer an average of 15-40 hours a week
- Have limited income; and
- Love children
Foster Grandparent Benefits:
- Will receive a stipend
- Transportation and meal
- Annual physical examination
- Monthly training
