An aerial assessment of the ice jam located south of Fox Island was completed this morning. The blasting completed yesterday has clearly impacted the ice jam and water is moving downstream. At this time, it has been determined there is no need for further blasting today.
Around 12.5 tons of natural rock salt was placed by the North Dakota National Guard last night in select areas and another salt operation will continue this afternoon, weather permitting. Another 20 to 25 tons of salt will be used today if deemed necessary.
The situation will continue to be monitored and the need for additional blasting or salting will be assessed.
