Bismarck, ND - Governor John Hoeven today announced that pursuant to his request North Dakota has received a presidential disaster declaration due to severe flooding across the state.
The declaration will provide federal resources and financial assistance for expenditures undertaken by cities, counties and the State of North Dakota for emergency protective measures and flood fighting efforts. The financial assistance provided by the federal government will cover seventy-five percent of the costs incurred by state and local governments.
"We've had a severe winter and are experiencing significant flooding across the state so we are grateful to receive this federal assistance as we continue the flood fight and recovery effort," said Governor Hoeven.
State agencies are working closely and collaboratively together with federal, local and tribal authorities, as well as volunteers throughout the state to prevent flooding, mitigate damages, to protect lives and property.
