Community Development Programs
The Community Development activities within the DCS center around the preparation of the State's Consolidated Plan and the resulting implementation of the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), the HOME, and the Emergency Shelter Grants (ESG) Programs. All are funded with federal dollars through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
The 56th Legislative Assembly enacted House Bill 1492 making it possible for ND Cities to create a Renaissance Zone within their jurisdiction.
A strategic planning tool and process is available through the Leadership Initiative for Community Strategic Planning to assist communities in creating a vision for their future and in identifying and targeting community and economic development activities. The strategic plan developed through this process will meet the planning requirements of a number of state and federal agencies.
