LIHEAP Furnace Repair and Replacement Program

Goal

The goal of the Furnace Repair and Replacement Program is to increase the energy efficiency of existing heating systems which are in working order and to replace heating systems which are either inoperable or pose a threat to the health and safety of the client.

Target Population

Owner occupied households which are clients of the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). (See Limits Below)

Eligible Services

  • Repair or Replacement: Heating systems will be repaired if the total cost is $500 or less. Existing systems may be replaced if: inoperable; pose a threat to the health and/or safety of the client; or replacement has a savings to an investment ratio of one or greater.
  • Supply/Delivery Side Inspection: Seal all ductwork. Ductwork in unconditioned space is insulated.

Clients receiving a replacement furnace must contribute a maximum of 30% of the cost of the furnace (materials and labor).
