2003 Teacher Excellence Award
Craig Nelson - Horizon Middle School, Bismarck
Craig Nelson is a Technology Educator at Horizon Middle School in Bismarck. Craig is in his second year at Horizon and had previously taught at Wachter Middle School in Bismarck. Craig is an innovative teacher, using both modular and traditional instruction in his classes. Craig puts in the extra effort needed to meet the needs of every student in his classroom. He strives for perfection and so do his students. Craig is active in Technology Education professional development. He willingly shares his expertise with colleagues and takes in as many sessions from fellow professionals as possible. In addition, Craig is an active TSA advisor and serves as an event coordinator at the state conference.
2003 Program Excellence in Technology Education
Sweetwater Elementary School, Devils Lake
Accepting the award for Sweetwater Elementary were Dawn Johnson and Tracy Trogstad. Dawn is a second grade teacher at Sweetwater and Tracy teaches fifth grade. Sweetwater teachers teach thematic units using Technology Education in all grades. They cap their Technology Education experience with a Technology Night. They invite parents and the community into the school one evening and have the students show all the technology projects they have completed during the year. The school is filled with energy and excitement and many, many people!
