Pharmacy Technician: Health Careers

Pharmacy technicians manage the techical distributive functions in pharmacies and pharmacy-related industries. Pharmacy technicians help licensed pharmacists provide medication and other healthcare products. They perform routine technical tasks necessary to prepare medications, computer entry, compounding of extemporaneous and sterile products, as well as prescription processing. Pharmacy technicians are found in community, hospital, and home health care pharmacies, as well as research institutions, manufacturers, and other industrials settings. High school students planning to enroll in a pharmacy techician program in college should take algebra and chemistry while in high school. Upon successful completion of a pharmacy technician program, students will be awarded a Certificate or an Associate in Applied Science (AAS) degree in Pharmacy Technician.
