Medical Assistant: Health Careers
Medical assisting is a very unique allied health profession. Graduates of medical assistant programs are educated to work in the capacity of a medical secretary and/or as an assistant to the physician. Clinical duties including assisting with medical histories, taking vital signs, preparing patients for examination, and assisting the physician during the examination. An associates degree will prepare the student to write the national examination to become a registered medical assistant (RMA). A 9-month certificate or a 2-year AAS degree in medical assisting are available.
