Dental: Health Careers
Dental industry is a growth-industry with many opportunities in various career options. There are several program options to select from within the Dental category offered in North Dakota colleges. The options are: Dental Assistant, Dental Hygiene and Pre-Dental. Students will be awarded an Associate in Science degree in Dental Assisting or Dental Hygiene. Pre-dental is a transfer program.
Dental Assisting
Dental assistants work under the supervision of a dentist preparing patients for exams, taking x-rays, sterilizing equipment, and/or performing receptionist duties.
Dental Hygiene
Hygienists work under the supervision of a dentist removing stains and deposits from teeth. They also take x-rays and perform other treatment services.
Pre-Dental
This is a transfer program to a dental program. Dentists are doctors who examine teeth and mouth tissues and diagnose and treat disease and abnormalities.
