March 26-27 is the Statewide Arts Conference and Governor’s Awards for the Arts Ceremony

Radisson Hotel, Bismarck, ND

The Statewide Arts Conference will take place in Bismarck March 26-27, 2013, with the Governor’s Awards for the Arts ceremony to take place the evening of March 27. The North Dakota Governor’s Awards for the Arts program is presented by the Governor’s Office and the North Dakota Council on the Arts to recognize individuals and organizations who have made outstanding contributions to the arts in the state. Nominations are reviewed by the North Dakota Council on the Arts, who then submits final candidates to the Governor for selection of the award winners. The nomination form is available on page 3. Mark your calendar and save the dates! The Statewide Arts Conference, sponsored by the North Dakota Council on the Arts and Arts North Dakota, will take place Tuesday and Wednesday, April 5-6, 2011, at the Radisson Hotel in Bismarck, North Dakota. The conference will be held in conjunction with the Governor’s Awards for the Arts.

Whether you are an artist, an arts administrator, an arts educator, or an arts advocate, you will want to join us for the annual Statewide Arts Conference in April. Creative Communities: The Art of the State of North Dakota offers the opportunity to explore arts advocacy, marketing made easy, creating partnerships and collaborations, arts funding, community development through the arts, and other current topics of interest. Anne Katz, Executive Director of Arts Wisconsin, will present the keynote address, “101 People You Should Know” for grassroots advocacy success. Scott Wild, of Wild Inspire, will introduce CulturePulse and other electronic marketing techniques; Deana DeFoe, President, Five Fold Consulting, will offer creative ways to build partnerships and collaborations. And, you have a special invitation to be part of the kick off of AND – Arts North Dakota! So join us for a time of education, networking, and fun with friends!

Registration for the Statewide Arts Conference is $50, and is due by April 1, 2011 ($60 after April 1), registration fee includes April 5th break and lunch; and April 6th breakfast and break. Governor’s Awards for the Arts Public Event

The North Dakota Governor’s Awards for the Arts program is presented by the Governor’s Office, the North Dakota Council on the Arts, and Arts North Dakota to recognize individuals and organizations who have made outstanding contributions to the arts in the state. Nomination categories include: Individual Achievement; Arts Organization; Arts in Education; and Private Business. Nominations are reviewed by the North Dakota Council on the Arts, who then submits final candidates to the Governor for selection of the award winners. The recipients of the 2011 Governor’s Awards for the Arts are North Valley Arts Council of Grand Forks, Northern Lights Arts Council of Langdon, and Sleepy Hollow Summer Theater of Bismarck in the Arts Organization category; Hardy Lieberg of Minot in the Individual Achievement category; and The Hotel Donaldson in the Private Business category. The awards will be presented at a special public event in Bismarck the evening of April 6, 2011. The general public is invited to attend, but reservations are required. Tickets are available for $30 per plate. An Invitation and RSVP card are now available. Artistic performances will be presented by the North Dakota Poetry Out Loud State Champion; Shadd Piehl; Chuck Suchy; and Charlene Hudgins.
