2009 Arts Conference Program
The Statewide Arts Conference, sponsored by the NDCA, will take place Wednesday, April 8, 2009, at the Best Western Ramkota Hotel in Bismarck, North Dakota. The conference will be held in conjunction with the Governor’s Awards for the Arts. Every successful organization needs to utilize new and existing technology to inspire their organizations, to connect with their audiences, and to cultivate new ideas. Hear how the Dakota Prairie Regional Arts Center in New Rockford is using Ticket Turtle to increase audience participation; learn about virtual environments and the arts; find out how to participate in the Art for Life program for senior citizens; get registered with CulturePulse - computers will be hooked up to help you get your organization and profile entered on the site; learn about the Bush Foundation grant opportunities for organizations and artists - including the new Dakota Creative Connections designed exclusively for North Dakota and South Dakota artists; hear about the Art of Inclusion; learn more on photography for grants and juries; and find out about Poetry Out Loud, and how your local schools can participate!
After the conference, the Bush Foundation and NDCA will host a reception at 6 p.m. at the ND Heritage Center. Please join us to celebrate the work and accomplishments of the Bush Foundation's Enduring Vision Awardee Walter Piehl, Jr., Minot, ND. Piehl was one of the first three recipients of the Bush Foundation's award for mature artists. In June 2009 he received a grant totaling $100,000, which will be distributed over a three to five year period. In addition, the Bush Foundation also will acknowledge and honor the work of its other artist grantees including those who have received Fellowships and the six recipients of the new Dakota Creative Connections grant (Karen Lynn Davidson of Minot, ND; Kim William Fink of Grand Forks, ND; Sister Nancy Gunderson, OSB of Bismarck, ND; Alfred Jason Lindell of Park River, ND; Sherry Lee Short of Fargo, ND; and Sarah Regan Snavely of Bowman, ND).
