North Dakota Council on the Arts Announces 8th Annual Special Edition Ornament

8th Annual Special Edition Ornament, snowman made of stamped glass

**Looking for a unique piece of art? Would you like to help support the arts in North Dakota? Then be sure to check out NDCA's Special Edition ornaments! These ornaments make a great gift for yourself or someone special!**

The North Dakota Council on the Arts (NDCA) announces their eighth Annual Special Edition Ornament which is now available for purchase. Kathy J. Monti, of Prairie Light Art Glass Studio in Berthold, ND, was commissioned by NDCA to create a one-of-a-kind, fused glass ornament. To create this ornament, Kathy cut and layered glass in the design of a frosty snowman. It was then fired in her kiln for about seven hours at 1400 degrees F.

The commission of this ornament offers the opportunity to purchase a unique, hand-made Christmas decoration and/or gift, while investing in the arts across the state. Limited quantities will be available. Each ornament is available for $25.00 plus tax (includes gift box, shipping additional). $12 from each ornament can be used as a tax-deductible donation to the ND Cultural Endowment Fund, as proceeds will benefit this Fund, which was created by the State Legislature in 1979 to assist NDCA in providing artistic opportunities for citizens throughout the state of North Dakota. If you would like to purchase a Special Edition Ornament, please call (701) 328-7590.

Monti was born and raised in Great Falls MT. Prior to working with glass she worked in multi-media, drawing, water color, acrylic and china painting. She attended classes put on by local artists when she lived in Montana, Washington, Arizona, Arkansan, and North Dakota. After taking a glass class she fell in love with glass and its versatility and beauty. She loves doing stained glass, fused glass, mosaic, and bead making. Monti worked at Margie’s Art Glass Studio, in Minot for about seven years. In January of 2013, she started her own shop called Prairie Light Art Glass Studio LLC. The studio is at her home in the country, south of Berthold, ND. She teaches classes at her studio and in surrounding towns when she isn’t busy with her commissioned work. Her husband retired from the Air Force in Minot.
