The UND Art Collections Gallery at the Empire Arts Center new exhibition, UND in Grand Forks: Emergence of An Artful Relationship, will run from February 23 to March 31, 2016. Exhibit hours are Monday & Wednesday noon-5 p.m.; Tuesday & Thursday 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Empire Arts Center in downtown Grand Forks. The UND Art Collections Gallery is free and open to the public.
The exhibition draws attention to the relationship between the University of North Dakota and the city in which it is situated. Since its founding in 1883, the University community has interacted in partnership with Grand Forks in meaningful ways. Artworks and documentary photographs will reveal a visual account of this interaction from the University's founding to the 1980s. The show features artworks by notable artists, from both on campus and off, ranging from UND's Margaret Kelly Cable and Paul Barr to Grand Forks Herald cartoonist Stuart McDonald and numerous others.
We strengthen the creative capacity of North Dakota for all who live or visit here: honoring our cultural traditions, empowering excellence and innovation, inspiring arts and culture opportunities for all.
