UND Art Collections at the Empire
December 4th, 2019 - April 3rd, 2020 | Empire Arts Center
Currently on view in the UND Art Collections Gallery at the Empire Arts Center is an exhibition featuring the nonrepresentational art of gifted mathematician and former UND President, George Starcher (1906-1994). Curated by the Fall 2019 Intro to Fine Arts Honors Course students, this exhibition challenges viewers to interpret art that does not depict a human, place, or thing. The meaning of each work of art is not explained, but rather left open to the viewer for contemplation as they learn about the history of nonrepresentational art and the work of George Starcher.
