The North Dakota Council on the Arts, along with the Governor’s Office, the First Lady’s Office, and Facility Management, invites the general public to the Lighting Ceremony for the 2015 North Dakota State Christmas Tree. The ceremony will be conducted by Governor Jack Dalrymple, First Lady Betsy Dalrymple, and David “White Thunder” Trottier on Tuesday, December 8 at 5:00 p.m. in the Memorial Hall of the Capitol Building in Bismarck.
Live entertainment will be provided by Joel Gilbertson, pianist; Bis-Man Melodious Brass, led by Jennifer Flores; and Kantorei, from Central Dakota Children’s Choir, under the direction of Jim McMahon. Readings will be presented by Lieutenant Governor Drew Wrigley and Kathleen Wrigley. The ceremony is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served following the ceremony.
The tree will be decorated with ornaments handmade by children, students, artists and craftspeople from all over North Dakota, as has been the tradition since 1981. This year 306 ornaments were donated to the State Tree. A descriptive listing of the ornaments will be available at the ceremony.
We strengthen the creative capacity of North Dakota for all who live or visit here: honoring our cultural traditions, empowering excellence and innovation, inspiring arts and culture opportunities for all.
