ND Met Opera Auditions on Saturday, November 21st.
The Auditions Concert will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the Josephine Campbell Recital Hall, in Hughes Fine Arts Center on the UND Campus. Our expert judges are conductor Richard Bado, dramatic soprano Carol Kirkpatrick and conductor Mark Graf, and we have some exceptional young singers coming to sing beautiful arias. Each competitor will perform two opera excerpts, and the panel of internationally renowned judges will select winners to advance to the Upper Midwest Regional Finals in Minneapolis this January. You will also have the opportunity to vote for your favorite performer for the Audience Choice Award.
Our other events include a public lecture on Friday, November 20th at 4 p.m. in Hughes Fine Arts Center with judge Carol Kirkpatrick who will talk about how to prepare for a professional musical career. She is the author of Aria Ready, a guide for singers, and is a leader in the business of being a professional performer. On Saturday, the Auditions Concert will be followed by the Awards Ceremony and a Vocal Master Class with Richard Bado at about 2:30 p.m. Professor Bado will share his experience as a international opera conductor and vocal coach with the audience as he conducts mini coachings with the District singers.
