The Northwest Arts Center presents ‘Handshake,’ an exhibition by artist and painter Mollie Douthit. Working primarily wet on wet, Douthit’s paintings are meditations on personal situations that contain people and objects meaningful to her. Drawing inspiration from Van Gogh’s signature sign off, these “handshakes” allow her to better see, understand and transcribe her life.
Douthit currently resides in Grand Forks, where she attend the University of North Dakota before receiving her MFA from Burren College of Art, Ballyvaughan, Ireland. In addition to numerous solo and group exhibitions, Douthit's work has been published in New American Paintings, The Irish Arts Review, and the Irish Independent and is included in both public and private collections.
