Plains Art Museum presents Much of a Muchness, a monumental woodcut by printmaker Lauren Rose Kinney. A self-declared collector of “things,” Kinney’s collecting lifestyle deeply informs her printmaking practice. She amasses objects like dolls, old books, rusty bits of metal, firecrackers, costume jewelry, and photographs, and uses them as source material to make large-scale prints depicting dream-like worlds composed of intimate ecosystems and hidden treasures. A specialist in the woodcut, a relief printing process, Kinney printed Much of a Muchness in a stark black-and-white palette.
Kinney is the director of the Roland Dille Center for the Arts Gallery at Minnesota State University Moorhead, and exhibits her work nationally in solo, two-person, group, and juried shows.
