Marilyn Artus began a 14-month journey on June 8, across the United States in celebration of the 100th anniversary of women gaining the right to vote. The project is titled Her Flag LLC. During her travels she will be sewing, Her Flag, a grand flag measuring 18 foot by 26 foot. Her Flag will be the result of a collaboration with 36 women artists who live in each of the 36 states that ratified the 19th amendment granting women the right to vote. Each of these 36 artist will design one stripe of the 36 striped flag that Marilyn will sew in the capital city of each state. The call for artist began on July 19th, 2018 and will end on November 5th 2018. July 19th marks 170 years after the Seneca Falls Convention, the first ever women’s rights convention in the United States.
