Discipline: Drawing/Illustration, Folk/Traditional, Glass, Mixed Media, Painting, Paper, Sculpture
As a student, Annette Rorvig earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Valley City State University and a Master of Art degree in education, art, and English from the University of North Dakota (UND).
As a teacher, Rorvig has taught in public elementary schools in McVille - where she currently lives - and Cooperstown. She was an extension instructor for graduate-level art education studies at UND and was a guest instructor at the University of California in Santa Barbara. She has given art lectures and slide shows at conferences all over the world, including Montreal, Portugal, and France. Additionally, she is a member of the North Dakota’s Arts-in-Education Artists’ Roster, which makes her eligible to conduct in-school residencies funded, in part, by the North Dakota Council on the Arts.
As an artist, Rorvig works in a variety of disciplines in her “Mrs. R” studio. These include painting, clay, collages, stained glass, sculpture, and basket-weaving. A self-proclaimed “country gal,” Rorvig takes her artistic inspiration from the nature that surrounds her and her husband’s ranch. She also makes paintings of old buildings.
