Mary Ellen Erickson, Ph.D., resides on a farm in central North Dakota with her husband Dwayne. Dr. Erickson is a retired teacher/school counselor. She spent over 30 years working with students K-12 in fields such as music, physical education, social studies, psychology, and counseling/guidance. Dr. Erickson has a B.S. degree from Valley City State University, and M.S. degree from North Dakota State University, and a Ph.D. from Walden University. She has written some children's book that stress values, character and work ethic, a book on caregiving of elderly parents, and a historical fiction novel about growing up German/Russian in the 1950's.
Her interest in writing began at an early age, but was not taken to a professional level until 1996, when she began writing the children's series and working on a Ph.D. in Human Services. She discovered she enjoyed writing. She writes books by using her education and life-experiences to create stories that are entertaining and educational. She feels she has been blessed with a good education and a long active life and wants to share her knowledge and experience with anyone who reads her books.
Awards received through the years include: "Who's Who Among College Students and Viking Pilot" (1958); "Who's Who Among Young Women in America" (1968); "Toastmaster's Advanced Communicator Bronze Award" (2006); and "Manchester Who's Who Registry of Executives and Professionals" (2006). Her latest novel Geezettes, has received the "Editor's Choice Award" and the "People's Choice Award" from the publisher iUniverse.
