Dakota Stage Ltd. is holding open auditions for A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, a fabulous musical farce, at 412 E Main Ave. in Bismarck, on Sunday, December 8th and Tuesday, December 10th from 7-9pm. The company is seeking 18 enthusiastic actors and actresses for characters of a variety of ages and types. Auditioners are asked to prepare a song to promote their singing pipes. An accompanist and a CD player will be on hand at the audition. An audition workshop will take place from 6-7pm on Sunday to offer participants the opportunity to engage in exercises, learn helpful tips to stay focused, and access the selected readings before the actual audition. Performance dates for A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum are January 30th through February 9th. State Historical Society's Second Annual Photo Contest, Theaters are this year’s Theme: The second annual State Historical Society of North Dakota Photo Contest is accepting entries until December 31, 2013. The subject for the 2013 contest is Theaters in North Dakota. The theme of theaters includes movie, drive-in, and stage theaters, amphitheaters, and opera houses. Theaters have played a major role in the entertainment of North Dakotans for many years and are currently facing another technology change and threat to their survival. Some changes have been made to the rules of the contest this year. Artists Celebrating Christ: Call to artists to enter the annual Artists Celebrating Christ art event. ACC, Artists Celebrating Christ is a unique inter-denominational event uniting Christian artisans from across the nation at the University of Mary’s Benedictine Center March 27-30, 2014. We have found the opportunity to exhibit all forms of Christian art in a supportive atmosphere will inspire creativity and revive the use of the arts to enhance the worship experience. All art forms accepted. Registration forms will be available at www.accartshow.com and are due February 15, 2014. Highlights of the weekend include a juried art show from artists across the nation, student art entries, a church banner and liturgical art display, an educational element inviting school students to attend art presentations and tours of the exhibits, adult art classes, a quick draw and silent auction, and musical entertainment.
