Job Preservation Guidelines

To apply for a grant, or for more information, please visit: http://northdakota.cgweb.org.

Grant Period: July 1, 2009-June 30, 2010

Application Deadline: June 20, 2009

Grant Maximum: $30,000 (no match required)

Purpose:

Funds in this grant program will help to preserve jobs in the nonprofit arts sector in North Dakota that are threatened by declines in philanthropic and other support during the current economic downturn. Funds will be used for salary support for one or more positions that are critical to an organization’s artistic mission and that are in jeopardy or have been eliminated as a result of the current economic conditions, and/or fees for previously engaged artists or contractual personnel to maintain or expand the period during which such persons would be engaged. Development staff positions (ie fundraiser, grant research, etc.) are not eligible to receive funding through this program.

Eligibility:

Any organization that has received NDCA funding through the Institutional Support Grant Program within the past 3 years is eligible to apply for this funding.  If the organization receives direct funding through the NEA Stimulus grant program it cannot be funded through this NDCA grant.  Organizations should apply to the NDCA and if an NEA grant is obtained their name will be removed from the NDCA eligible applicant list.

Reporting Requirements:

Quarterly reports will be required for recipients of the grant.  NDCA will provide the format for the reports that will include information on each position funded.

Evaluation:

Grants will be evaluated based on the artistic excellence and artistic merit of the project, based on previous Institutional Support application and including:

  • Appropriateness of the program to the organization’s mission, audience, community, and/or constituency.
  • Potential to reach a broad geographic range of constituents.
  • Potential to reach underserved populations such as those whose opportunities to experience the arts are limited by geography, ethnicity, economics, or disability.

Grants will also be evaluated based on significance of requested position(s) to the organization, evidence of financial need, and sustainability plan.

Procedure:

Be sure to click on the “Edit Profile” button, and update your information prior to applying for this, or any online grant program.
