Featured Artist Works Displayed in the Offices of the Governor

July, August, September 2009 - Susan Morrissey (Valley City)

Photo of Sue MorrisseyLines in the dirt, drawing with a stick, are early graphic memories of Sue's childhood in Lidgerwood, North Dakota during the '40s and '50s. Reconfiguring cardboard boxes into objects d'art also filled considerable periods of time in those bygone days when children used kitchen knives without fear.

These inclinations continued through adolescence and led her to study art with Robert Nelson at the University of North Dakota and in later years, to complete a MA at the University of Louisville, KY and a MFA at Indiana University. Sue married her ND soulmate, Michael, and after a few years in the Fargo area, a year in England, left the state to live, work and raise their sons in 5 midwestern states before returning to North Dakota in 1996. They currently live in Valley City.
