Featured Artist Works Displayed in the Offices of the Governor
August and September 2007 - Melissa Gordon (Bismarck)
Melissa Gordon has been drawing since she could hold a crayon to the wall. She has won numerous awards for her realistic renderings around the state and has many works in private collections across the country. Melissa’s work has been exhibited at many area art shows and local businesses as well as the North Dakota Governor’s mansion.
After over 10 years as a commercial designer, art director and illustrator, she has decided to work independently as a freelance artist specializing in pen & ink, graphite and colored pencil illustration of a variety of subjects, most of which are depictions of nature and wildlife. Her work is currently featured on greeting cards, rubber stamps and embroidery designs as well as giclee prints and glassware.
In addition to her work as an artist, she is also an active member of the community and does volunteer work for many area arts organizations including Bismarck Art & Galleries Association, Dakota West Arts Council, Mandan Art Association, Missouri River Community Band and Central Dakota Children’s Choir. Melissa also enjoys teaching workshops and other classes around the Bismarck-Mandan area.
