Love contemporary art? Curious about it? Looking to expand your organization’s audience by partnering with other groups? Seeking inspiration for dynamic public programming ideas? Art21, a nonprofit contemporary art organization, has designed two focused outreach initiatives that address all of these questions. "Museum + Library Partnerships" and "Youth Engagement" are our new screening and discussion-based national pilot programs. Using the Emmy-nominated, PBS documentary series, Art:21—Art in the Twenty-First Century as a springboard, both initiatives involve hosting screening events, discussion forums, and hands-on activities in local communities. "Museum + Library Partnerships" encourages collaboration between local cultural institutions to explore contemporary art from interdisciplinary perspectives. "Youth Engagement" is an opportunity to introduce students, educators, and their communities to contemporary art through youth-led, Art:21-inspired programming. The two initiatives are great ways to learn about contemporary art and gain access to a wide array of media resources, as well as to offer your community an opportunity to come together and take part in a wider cultural dialogue. "Youth Engagement" and "Museum + Library Partnerships" pilot programming will take place through mid-November 2006. more on Art21's Outreach Initiative...
