Date Set for the North Dakota State Tree Lighting Ceremony
The North Dakota Council on the Arts, along with the Governor's Office and
Facility Management, invites the general public to the Lighting Ceremony for
the North Dakota State Christmas Tree. The free ceremony will be conducted
by Governor John Hoeven and First Lady Mikey Hoeven on Tuesday, December 6
at 5:00 p.m. in the Memorial Hall of the Capitol Building in Bismarck.

Mel Stone, from Channel 11 news of Fargo, would like to televise a story on a ND
State Christmas Tree ornament project in progress. If you (or a group of

North Dakota Artist Accepted for The Creative Center's Training Program for Hospital Artist-in-Residence in New York City
Deborah Ford of Dickinson, North Dakota, was one of ten artists accepted
for The Creative Center's Training Program for Hospital
Artist-in-Residence, which will be held from November 13-18, 2005, in
New York City.

Dinner Theatre, Offered to ND Community Theatres Royalty-Free Next Year
Conrad Davidson, who wrote the play Dinner Theatre with the support
of a NDCA fellowship, is offering this play for production to ND community theatres
royalty-free next year. Dinner Theatre will be presented by the Mouse
River Players community theatre group in Minot on November 18-20, 2005.

2006 Individual Artist Fellowship Grant Now Available
Click here to access the 2006 Individual Artist Fellowship Grant for
visual and media arts. Music and literature will be eligible in 2007, and
traditional arts, dance, and theatre are eligible in 2008.

The State Historical Society of North Dakota (SHSND) has grant money available during the 2005-07 biennium.

Robert C. Booker Appointed New Executive Director of Arizona Commission on the Arts
Virginia Cárdenas, chair
of the Arizona Commission on the Arts (ACA), announces the appointment of
Robert C. Booker to lead the Commission as its new executive director. For
the past eight years, Booker has been executive director of the Minnesota
State Arts Board. Acknowledging the unanimous recommendation of Commission
members, Cárdenas said, “Robert Booker is a proven arts leader. He has
always worked tirelessly to ensure that the arts have a place in daily
life. We are delighted that he’s decided to join us and continue doing so

Institute (PAMI)
Columbia College Chicago will host the 44th annual Professional Arts
Management Institute (PAMI) focusing on “Cultural Tourism.” The
three-day event – November 18-20 – will feature 20 hours of lectures, panel
discussions and interactive sessions that explore ways to promote, manage
and develop an area’s arts and cultural resources that expand opportunities
for tourism and travel.

Services jointly announced the awarding of $14.89 million in federal

Southern Arts Federation Emergency Relief Response List
The Southern Arts Federation is pleased to announce the relief plans of other
organizations for artists and arts organizations in the Gulf Coast states.
This widespread response is most gratifying and they will be updating this

state agency responsible for the support and development of the arts
throughout North Dakota, and is funded by the state legislature and the
National Endowment for the Arts.
The North Dakota Arts Alliance/Alliance for Arts Education is a state
network dedicated to education and advocacy for the arts and arts education.
The Alliance is a member of the Kennedy Center Alliance for Arts Education
Network, and is funded by membership contributions, the Kennedy Center
Alliance for Arts Education Network, the National Endowment for the Arts,
and the North Dakota Council on the Arts.
