A CONCERT OF QUINTESSENTIALLY AMERICAN INSPIRATION AND EXHILARATION FEATURING…

A Juilliard-trained prodigy who suddenly decided, at the start of a brilliant career as a concert pianist and Juilliard teacher, to walk away from music and not touch a piano for more than twenty years… who later moved to Minnesota and re-ignited her international performing career. Baladino, a lively Mediterranean folk band, will visit Wahpeton as part of a multi-city Midwest tour

Baladino comes to Wahpeton, ND, through Minneapolis-based Arts Midwest World Fest Partnership. With its members hailing from Berlin and Tel Aviv, Baladino is a Mediterranean folk band that offers fresh, yet deeply authentic interpretations of Sephardic and Ladino melodies and brings this tradition back into full, fresh dialogue with its trans-Mediterranean past, using extended technique, subtle electronics and improvisation to dust off the predominant heavy-handed approach to Ladino music.
