Jul 18-19 - Award-winning author and speaker Lauraine Snelling will headline two events at this summer's Drayton Riverfest. Lauraine Snelling will host a Writers Workshop Jul 18 from 10am-4pm at Hastings Landing Restaurant. Pre-registration is required and the fee is $60, which includes lunch. Hastings Landing is located at 909 North Main Street in Drayton. Coffee with Ingeborg, an enlightening and entertaining talk by Lauraine Snelling, will be held Jul 19 at 1:30pm at H G Johnson Memorial Hall. Lauraine Snelling will be in character as Ingeborg Strand Bjorklund, and other characters from her Red River of the North novels will be on hand. The event will feature live Norwegian music, Norwegian goodies, coffee, and gifts for everyone. Reservations are required and cost is $20.00. The location is 105 Almeron Ave, downtown Drayton. Jun 25-Aug 27 - The North Dakota Museum of Art is pleased to announce the line-up for the 2013 Concerts in the Garden series. This year there will be concerts by bands from across the United States and Canada. This is a casual, outdoor concert series that takes place in the Museum's Sculpture Garden. Bring a lawn chair or a blanket and enjoy an evening of great music, food, and friends. This year's line-up is as follows: Jun 25, Chastity Brown (of Minneapolis); Jul 16, Whitehorse (of Toronto); Jul 23, Elliott BROOD (of Toronto); Aug 6, Charlie Parr, and The Pines (of Duluth and Minneapolis); Aug 20, DUGAS (of Winnipeg); and Aug 27, The White Buffalo (of Los Angeles). Thru Jun 27 - Healthy Living through Art. Every Thursday night from, 6-8 pm. $20 for ten 2-hour sessions. To register, e-mail info@novac.org for a registration form. Sessions take place at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 319 S 5th St. Healthy Living through Art is designed for individuals to explore their relationship with their mind, body, and spirit. No need to be an artist! Emphasis on self-expression, reflection, health and healing. Professional artist Kimberly Forness Wilson (NoVAC's 2012 Artist of the Year recipient) works with participants to create projects that will inspire them to think creatively and take on challenges positively. Each weekly session involves a different project to help individuals explore and define healthy living in their lives, followed by a processing session. It's a fun journey of self-renewal, and all ages are welcome.
