Bee Tree Theater Works (Linda Bruning) |
In their residencies, students are introduced to the creative process of theater, which is to bring words to life and tell a story. Their goal is to give students complete ownership of their final product and, through the process, help them discover the artists in themselves. They are especially interested in integrating core curriculum subjects with theater and creating final student performances that include set, costumes, and performances created by students themselves during the residency. Dakota Stage Ltd. T. Daniel and Laurie Willets |
T. Daniel and Laurie Willets are internationally-renowned performing artists and masters of the art of mime. As professionals, they create and perform their touring productions; their eclectic classical music ensemble; interpret classical works for orchestras and chamber ensembles; choreograph for motions pictures, films, actors, and magicians; and conduct residencies in colleges, universities, schools, and communities. In a residency - one day to one semester (in colleges) - they offer an introductory performance as the base of understanding, followed by immersion into their classroom instruction. Students have an opportunity to experience and explore non-verbal communication as they stimulate their imagination and open their senses. Depending upon time, students can progress far enough to perform their own piece. A strong sense of creativity, self-confidence, and sharing is gained through this residency. T.
Daniel and Laurie Willets Dragon Jane Dragon Jane Performance Art Company brings the expressive arts to character development and the core curriculum. Our approach, “excellence is inclusive,” invites each student to find his or her own excellence through a noncompetitive environment of respect. We provide a theatrical structure or theme for each residency, such as “The Solar System on Stage,” “Some of My Best Friends are Endangered Species,” or “100 Things You Can Do for Peace.” We then facilitate creation of original art pieces, combining the modalities of theater, music, movement, visual arts, costume design, mask-making, science, math, history, language arts (English, Spanish, beginning American Sign Language), and/or performance. Karen Van Fossan |

They audition, cast, and rehearse the show; and the week culminates in 2 public performances to use for fund-raising. Our mission is the development of life skills - creativity, social skills, goal achievement, communication, self-esteem - through performing arts. Missoula
