2008 Summer Teachers' Institute
Keepers of the Land

The North Dakota Teacher Resource Coalition announces their 2008 Summer Teachers' Institute, Keepers of the Land. The institute will be held at the Turtle Mountain Outdoor Learning Center, Lake Metigoshe State Park, June 16-18, 2008. Nationally recognized storyteller Michael Caduto, author of the "Keepers of the Earth" books will be one of the institute presenters.

Caduto will do an afternoon workshop of stories, activities and stewardship ideas that are focused on trees and other plants. For an entertaining evening program he will present an inspiring program of stories, music and a group circle dance. More information about the workshop registration, lodging facilities, and additional workshop presentations will be posted on the EduTech’s web site at www.edutech.nodak.edu.

The North Dakota Council on the Arts partners with the North Dakota Teacher Resource Coalition to bring culture and history resources to the K-12 classroom. The primary goal of the Coalition is to provide professional development opportunities that enable educators to expand their content knowledge and provide resources for curriculum planning and development. The Coalition partners gather and coordinate activities and curriculum resources that provide enriched educational experiences for K12 teachers and students across North Dakota.

Significant partners in this project are organizations and agencies that provide valuable cultural and historical data and current information strategic to planning and maintaining the activities and resources: EduTech; North Dakota Forest Service; North Dakota Council on the Arts; State Historical Society of North Dakota; Knife River Indian Villages National Park Service; and the North Dakota Geographic Alliance.
