Southern Exposure Application Now Open

Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation announces the availability of the online application for the inaugural grant round of Southern Exposure: Performing Arts of Latin America, a program designed to bring exemplary contemporary and traditional dance, music and theater artists from Latin America to audiences across the United States. Southern Exposure will support projects that are developed collaboratively by presenter consortia based in the United States and its territories that include public performances and complementary activities intended to build appreciation for the artists' work and cultures. The program will invest in projects in which the presenting organizations work with a variety of community partners to offer the public opportunities for significant engagement with the visiting artists. The application receipt deadline for the 2012-2013 Southern Exposure program is February 10, 2012. Creative Capital Grants

Creative Capital will begin accepting online Letters of Inquiry for grants in Emerging Fields, Literature and Performing Arts. The Inquiry Form will be open until March 1. Visit http://creative-capital.org/apply to read the grant guidelines and learn more about the application process, or attend an in-person or online information sessions (available at http://creative-capital.org/infosessions). Creative Capital provides integrated financial and advisory support to artists pursuing innovative and adventurous projects. Acting as a catalyst for the development of exceptional and imaginative ideas, we support artists whose work is provocative, timely and relevant; who are deeply engaged with their art forms and demonstrate a rigorous commitment to their craft, yet are also boldly original and push the boundaries of their genre; who create work that carries the potential to reshape the cultural landscape. Selected grantees receive up to $50,000 in direct support and a suite of services valued at more than $40,000. To be eligible to apply, an artist must be: A U.S. citizen or permanent legal resident; At least 25 years old; A working artist with at least five years of professional experience; and Not a full-time student. Community Art Wall in the Prairie Center

The Community Art Wall in the new Prairie Center home of the Avera Surgery Center and Avera Cancer Institute will be an ever-changeable multimedia digital art wall, reflecting the images of our community, enabling all who enter to feel at home, with themes limited only by our imagination. We hope this piece of art will enhance the ability to not only welcome our patients from across the region to Sioux Falls, but also welcome our local community into the Prairie Center. The Community Art Wall is a digital display measuring over fifteen feet long and seven feet tall. These monitors utilize cutting edge technology that will provide a crisp, sharp, beautiful imagery of the submitted artwork. Artwork Submissions: Artwork may be photography, pictures of canvas art, sculptures, videos, or any medium of artwork that can photographed and shared digitally. All submissions must be submitted through the website and submitted artwork is then approved by a committee. We would like artwork from all levels of expertise and styles of art. Each quarter the theme may include hope, transformation, or survivorship for the artwork. Themes will change quarterly throughout the year. Bijou Show House in Beach

The Bijou Show House in Beach, ND, is seeking individuals and groups to perform on the newly installed 400 sq. ft. stage. The auditorium provides clean sight-lines for its 285 raked seats and has excellent acoustics. In all, the theatre is an intimate show case for performance of poetry, comedy, dance, drama, music, and inventive presenters. We are seeking to expand a cultural presence in SW North Dakota.
