Offutt, Jon
Discipline: Glass

" "Red, yellow, and blue vases

When not touring the country in his Mobile Glassblowing Studio, Jon Offutt is busy as the owner and operator of the House of Mulciber Glass Studio. Previously, he was an instructor and studio coordinator with the glass program at Minnesota State University Moorhead, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in studio art with a concentration on glass and ceramics. His experience was bolstered by a residency at Smoky Hills Artisan Community in Osage, Minnesota; as a studio assistant at the Penland School of Crafts in Penland, North Carolina; and through earning a Master of Fine Arts degree in the glass program with the College of Art and Design at Southern Illinois University Carbondale, where he was also a shop steward and studio instructor.

Offutt and his Mobile Glassblowing Studio, which is part of an outreach program of North Dakota State University (NDSU) and funded, in part, by a grant from the Kellogg Foundation, travels around the state and country giving demonstrations on the art of glassblowing and providing a valuable resource to communities that would otherwise not have access to it. Recently at Bismarck State College and the Fine Arts Center in Jamestown, Offutt , with the aid of NDSU art students has also taken his touring studio to communities in Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Missouri, and South Dakota.

More information about Offutt, his outreach, and the House of Mulciber Glass Studio can be found online at www.mulciberglass.com.
