Would you like to host a free art exhibition in your town?
The North Dakota Museum of Art will begin touring its newest Rural Arts exhibition titled “Fractured: North Dakota’s Oil Boom.” Bookings are first come, first serve. Museum touring exhibitions can be on display for two to four weeks. Please e-mail Matthew Wallace at mwallace@ndmoa.com, or call (701) 777-4195 if you are interested in hosting the exhibition in your town. Through the Rural Arts Initiative program, the Museum tours exhibitions of original artwork throughout the state. Touring exhibitions are free-of-charge to the host community. In addition, in order to assist schools wishing to attend exhibitions, the Museum provides reimbursements for mileage, bus drivers, and substitute teachers, if one is needed to stay with students who cannot attend. Schools within a 50 to 60-mile radius of each exhibition site are encouraged to apply for reimbursements. Museum staff will deliver, install, and return to take down the exhibition at no cost. Host organizations must provide volunteers to be with the exhibition while it is open to the public. If you have a space, they can install. Don’t hesitate to call the Museum and discuss possible locations. To learn more visit http://www.ndmoa.com/Rural-Arts.

Guidelines and application materials for two National Endowment for the Arts fun...

Tue, 12/30/2014 - 3:40pm
Guidelines and application materials for two National Endowment for the Arts funding categories have been posted on the NEA's website. The 2015 Art Works and Challenge America programs support projects anticipated to take place beginning in 2016. Any non-profit 501(c)3 organization, unit of state or local government, or federally recognized tribal community with at least a three year programming history is eligible to apply for project-based support through these two programs. Together, Art Works and Challenge America constitute approximately 75 percent of the NEA's annual direct grantmaking (exclusive of state and regional partnership agreements). CATEGORY DESCRIPTIONS: Art Works is the NEA's largest funding category, supporting the creation of art that meets the highest standards of excellence, public engagement with diverse and excellent art, lifelong learning in the arts, and the strengthening of communities through the arts. Matching grants generally range from $10,000 to $100,000. In fiscal year 2014, the NEA supported 1799 grants totaling $49.4 million through Art Works. The deadlines for Art Works applications are February 19 and July 23, 2015 depending on the artistic discipline and/or type of project for which an organization seeks support. And Challenge America offers support primarily to small and mid-sized organizations for projects that extend the reach of the arts to underserved populations—those whose opportunities to experience the arts are limited by geography, ethnicity, economics, or disability. In fiscal year 2014, Challenge America funded 147 grants totaling $1.47 million. The deadline for Challenge America is April 16, 2015. Guidelines and application materials are in the Apply for a Grant section of the NEA website at http://arts.gov/grants/apply-grant/grants-organizations.

Thu, 12/11/2014 - 11:04am
Arts North Dakota (AND) would love to add you to its list of sponsoring members! This young arts advocacy organization is building its membership and needs your support. For a nominal $20 you will join a statewide cadre of people interested in supporting the arts in North Dakota. Why is it important to have this group? NDCA is not allowed to act as a lobbyist; its voice is limited to educating and sharing information about the agency with legislators. We need those within state government to understand the importance of the arts and the large number of citizens the arts regularly affect. AND can play that role, but can only be effective if it has the financial ability to operate and the ability to show that it represents artists, arts organization, patrons, and arts educators from throughout the state. The membership form is available on the Arts ND website www.artsnd.org. Please join me in showing your support by mailing your membership and donation today; we will all benefit! ~ Jan Webb, State Arts Advocate, AND
