Teacher of the Year Award
Gov. Jack Dalrymple and State Superintendent of Public Instruction Kirsten Baesler today presented Nanci Dauwen, a math teacher at Sheyenne High School in West Fargo, with the 2017 North Dakota Teacher of the Year award. The announcement was made during a ceremony at the school and was attended by administrators, educators, representatives from the state's education associations, and students.

2016 Hunting Season Outlook
The 2016 Hunting Season Outlook is now available. It outlines upland and small game, big game, migratory birds, and furbearers.
Pronghorn Season Opens September 30th
North Dakota's 2016 pronghorn hunters are reminded the gun season opens September 30 at noon Central Time, and continues through October 16. Hunters with a valid license can use legal firearms or bow equipment, and must stay in the assigned unit. The 2016 pronghorn hunting season is open in units 1A, 2A, 2B, 3A, 3B, 4A and 4C.

National Fossil Day Art Contest
National Fossil Day is Oct. 12th, 2016 and the ND Geological Survey Paleontology Division is planning a fun day full of activities from 10am-5pm at the ND Heritage Center. With National Fossil Day also comes an Art Contest. This year's theme is: Your favorite fossil from North Dakota. Entries can be of the fossil themselves, or an interpretation of the living plant / animal. Any North Dakota resident, of any age, may enter this contest. Entries must be received by Friday, October 7th, 2016.
